Another aged passed away in the person of Andrew Voelker, who died at the residence of his son, Mr. A. A. Voelker, Berlin, on Thursday morning, Dec: 3rd, aged 86 years, 1 month and 5 days.
The deceased was born in Oberamt, Alen, Wurtemberg, Germany, on Oct ober 28th, 1828. He emigrated to America in the year 1851 and settled in the village of St. Jacobs in 1837, where he carried on a boot and shoe business until his retirement in 1888.
He was an active member and office bearer in the Evangelical Church in that village and continued in the same faith until the end.
For a number of years he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Mary Kuchner, 41 Samuel St., but for the past two years he resided with his son, Mr. A. A. Voelker, at 41 Ahrens St. W. His wife predeceased him in the year 1893. He leaves to mourn his loss two sons, Andrew A. and John of Berlin, and two daughters of Berlin, Mrs. Mary Kuehner, of Berlin, and Mrs. Werner Kuehner of Waterloo.
The funeral was held on Saturday, Dec. 5th, at 1 p.m., from 41 Ahrens St. W. to Zion Evangelical church thence to St. Jacobs for burial.
