Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Carmen Salvatore and Providenza (Campisi) Gatto.
Genevieve was a High School Graduate.
She was employed as a Supervisor for S. E. Nichols Department Store for twenty-seven years, was a Machine Operator for Brooks Manufacturing, Old Forge for thirteen years, and was employed part time for J. C. Penney, the Umbrella Factory, Hagers, and the Polar Katz.
Genevieve was a devout Catholic and member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where she also served as Coordinator of the Bereavement Committee, Past President, Vice President, and Treasurer of St. Anthony Senior Citizen Group and St. Anthony Altar - Rosary Society.
She was also a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association Auxiliary, the American Legion Post 34, American Association of Retired Persons, the High Beamers, and was Past President of the American Postal Workers Union Auxiliary.
Genevieve loved to cook, especially sharing her special dishes with family and friends. She also enjoyed playing bingo, photography, and scrapbooking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years: Benjamin D. Malone in 2001; her sons: Benjamin, Timothy, and Carmen; her grandson: Kody Scruton; her sisters: Rose and Grace; and, her brothers: Joseph Gatto, Francis Gatto, Vincent Gatto, Louis Gatto, John Gatto, Samuel Gatto, and Anthony Gatto.
Genevieve is survived by her daughter: Mary Ann Malone of Lancaster; her granddaughters: Amber Rhoads and Melissa Malone - Saunders; her grandsons: Jeffrey Schwanger, Benjamin Malone III, and Timothy Malone; her great-granddaughters: Kyrrah, Lilli, Rosalie, and Harper; her great-grandsons: Nathaniel, Cayden, Croix, and Jaxson; and, her brother: Ernest J. Gatto, Sr. of Dunmore.
Relatives and friends are invited to a first Viewing will be held from 06:00 - 08:00 PM on Sunday, October 06, 2019 in Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster.
Relatives and friends are invited to a second Viewing will be held from 09:00 - 10:00 AM on Monday, October 07, 2019 in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange Street, Lancaster. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM with Rev. Daniel O'Brien as Celebrant.
Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
