Jack Ted Street, age 91, of the Buladean Community, went to Heaven to be with the Lord on the evening of September 26th, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Mitchell County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Belle Street, whom he called Mommy.
He was a man of laughter, love of family, and lived for the Lord enjoying the things of God. Jack was faithful to his Heavenly Father giving his life to the Lord in 1941; he was faithful to his family, and a faithful friend to everyone he came in contact with.
He was often heard saying, “I don’t have an ought against anybody.” He loved to work his two horses, whom he named “Bonnie and Lady”, on the farm he was so proud of. Jack raised a wonderful family, and told them continually “I love you.”
He was a member of Middle District Church serving as a trustee from 1977 and as a deacon since 1989. You would always find him on the third pew in the choir, he loved being in the Christmas Play, and one of his favorite Church activities was participating in Christmas Caroling. His favorite scripture that he often quoted was the 23rd Psalm, and he ended each evening saying the Lord’s Prayer.
Jack worked for 23 years at Henredon Furniture, only to retire and work 10 more years at Marshall Street’s Sawmill. He retired at 77 years old.
Surviving is his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Ann Street; daughter Barbara Laws (Roger) of Buladean; daughter Janie Moffitt (Johnny) of Buladean; Grandchildren: Allen Laws (Melissa) of Spruce Pine, NC, Kevin Laws (Tiffany) of Jonesborough, TN, and Stephanie Moffitt of Buladean. Great-grandchildren: Delancey Laws, Elijah Laws, Corbin Laws, Brody Laws, and Ike Laws. Sister-in-Law Edith Bowman of Johnson City, TN and Brother-in-Law Ray Bennett of Johnson City, TN. Jack has many special nieces and nephews of the Baker Family in Johnson City, TN. A special friend, and like a son to Jack and Mary Ann, is Charles Mosley (Shorty) of Buladean. He was preceded in death by a special friend, Bobby Jenkins of Buladean.
The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to all the Nurses of Hospice in Mitchell County, along with the Hospice Chaplain Andy Willis. You all have been a great blessing to our family.
Funeral Services will be handled by Yancey Funeral Services on Monday, September 30th at Middle District Church in the Buladean Community. Family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm with the service beginning at 7pm. Officiating will be Ministers Roger Laws, Kevin Laws, Allen Laws, Scotty Jenkins, and Andy Willis. Burial will take place at the Roselawn Memory Gardens in Johnson City, TN on Tuesday morning, October 1st at 11am.
