Merle E. Williams, 88, of Brownsburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully September 27, 2019 in the loving care of his family. Mr. Williams was born February 8, 1931 in Colfax, Indiana to Elmer and Lucy (Harvey) Williams. He was raised in Bloomingdale, Indiana and was a graduate of Bloomingdale High School. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Following his service to his country, he was wed to Eleanor Kaup on August 16, 1955, a loving union that would last until his passing. He was employed for many years at Allison Transmission where he worked in the Power Plant. Merle was a member of Connection Pointe Church in Brownsburg and the Brownsburg American Legion Post 331 and had belonged to the Brownsburg F & AM Lodge 241 where he was a 32nd Degree Mason. In addition to his memberships and love of family, he was a notorious tinkerer and was even known to occasionally put something back together.

Together with his loving wife of over 64 years, he is survived by his children, Mark (Jenni) Williams and Kathleen (Lowell) Hoyer, and granddaughter, Jessica Sturgeon. He was preceded in death by his five older siblings.

Friends and family will gather from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, October 3rd, 2019 in the David A. Hall Mortuary in Pittsboro. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., October 4th in the Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Littlejohn of Connection Pointe Church officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the K of P Cemetery in Lizton.

Memorial Gifts have been encouraged to the Indy Honor Flight, a program which Merle was honored to be a participant of only a few years ago.
