Barbara Delores Stanley, 86, of Culpeper died Thursday, September 26, 2019 at her residence. She was born October 16, 1932 in Washington, DC to the late William and Beatrice Cope Tarant.
Mrs. Stanley was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church. She sang in their choir along with other church choirs since the age of 16. She also started The Order of the Daughters of the King chapter and took it from 5 members to 18 members. Mrs. Stanley was a secretary at Patuxent Presbyterian Church in California, MD for many years.
She is survived by seven children, Mary Ann Bargerstock (Dwight) of GA, William Philip Stanley (Laura) of Culpeper, VA, David Alan Bonaccorsi (Melinda) of Albuquerque, NM, Charles DeWitt Stanley, III (Connie) of Charlotte, NC, Marla Louise Echoes of Moore Haven, FL, James Kenneth Stanley (Michelle) of Port Charlotte, FL, and Michael Anthony Stanley (Michele) of Baltimore, MD; and two stepchildren, Stephen DeWitt Stanley, Sr. (Carol Ann) of Mechanicsville, MD, and Arlyn Erin Sisk (Dana) of Greenville, VA.
Additional survivors include one brother, Robert James Tarant (Lila) of Anderson Island, WA; one sister, Lee Ann Tarant of Fairview, PA; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles DeWitt Stanley, Jr.; and five siblings, Paul Dennis Tarant, Laura Marie Tarant, William Edward Tarant, George Benedict Tarant and Beatrice Elsie Gray.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 10 a.m. St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 115 N. East St., Culpeper, VA with Rev. Benson Shelton officiating.
Interment will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Hwy, Cheltenham, MD.
