Beatrice Hopson, age 95 of Fairfax, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2019.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Mound Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 4th at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville.

Beatrice was born in Texas, raised in Flat and was a long-time resident of Fairfax, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dan Louis Hopson; parents, William Faye and Gertrude Parsons Donaldson; brother, Kelly and sisters, Beth Stanley and Margaret Braun.

She is survived by her sister, Ida Lee Sterling; six children, Michael Dan, William Keith, Kay Hopson Donaldson, Aldan Mark, Phillip Lynn, and Anne Hopson Joyce; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, which range in age from 30 to 9 months.

Beatrice and Dan met when his high school girls’ team competed against her basketball team. He laid eyes on her while she was playing and knew she was the one! They married in 1942 and were together for 61 years. They were able to travel the world and share those wonderful memories with friends and family.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her talents included her work as a skilled seamstress and phenomenal cook. She added a true touch of southern elegance to every gathering and conversation. She was a lover of music, especially classical and musical theater. Her laugh, smile and voice will live on in our memories.

Her words of wisdom to all were “Y’all take care of each other.”
