He was the husband of Hilda (Glaser) Baar; father of one son, Henry Baar and his wife Carole Young of Plymouth, one daughter, Evelyn (Baar) Kahan and her husband Roger of Randolph; 6 grandchildren, Michael Kahan and his wife Jessica Dionne, Julie (Kahan) Simone and her husband Mark, Jeffrey Kahan, David Kahan, Jennifer (Baar) Costello and her husband Erik of Lincoln, Daniel Baar and his wife Melissa Pietal of Worcester; 8 great-grandchildren, Haley Costello, Tyler Simone, Rachael Kahan, Leah Kahan, Erika Kahan, Tyler Baar, Jesse Baar and Ryan Pietal. He was the only child of Heinrich Baar and Berta (Eising) Baar. Leopold was a survivor of the holocaust. Leopold's parents, uncle Bernhard Baar, aunt Frieda (Allersheimer) Baar, and cousin Elsa Baar all died during the holocaust. Leopold succeeded via Shanghai emigration to the United States.
