Helen was born in Madison County, October 1, 1924 to Albert and Neda Gore. She was the fourth of their thirteen children. She married Harold F. Hart, and together they had seven children. Helen and Harold left Culpeper to raise their growing family in Barboursville and Ruckersville. Helen worked many years at Sperry Rand, but her favorite job where she built her career was working for General Electric in Charlottesville. Upon retiring, she moved back to Culpeper to be closer to her family.
Helen was an avid gardener, canner, and cook. Nothing gave her greater happiness than preparing a meal for her family. One did not leave her home hungry. She loved her cats, especially Babe. Hart, Jr. and wife, Genny; Lucinda Ann (Cindy) Hart Littlefield; Larry Wayne Hart and wife, Glenda; Linda Fay Hart Hord; Harlan Lee Hart and wife, Laura; Elaine Susan Wecker and husband, David; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
