Graveside services for Mrs. Joann Ferguson, age 83, of Gilmer, will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the Union Grove Cemetery in Upshur County, with Bro. Brian Zappa officiating.

Joann was born on March 8, 1936 in Hull, Texas to the late James “Sam” Everett and Flossie Mae Russell Everett. She passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. Joann was a homemaker, and a member of the Union Grove Baptist Church. She loved cooking for her family, and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She was a woman of strong faith, who believed in the power of prayer, and prayed for everyone in her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard Dale Ferguson, Sr.; and two brothers, James Everett, and Rodney Everett.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Herndon and wife June of Gilmer, Howard Dale Ferguson, Jr. and wife Virginia of Union Grove;; daughters, Deborah Proctor and husband Tim of Gladewater, Sammie Hudspeth of Gilmer; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
