Donald R. Norton of Trussville, Alabama passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019 at the age of 88.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who was very much loved and will be greatly missed.
Don graduated from the University of Alabama and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a faithful member of Huffman United Methodist Church for more than 60 years serving not only his church family but his community as well.
Don retired from Standard Brands Inc. and Saunders Inc. with many years of service in the trucking business.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Montgomery Norton (1935-2009) whom he has greatly missed; parents, Henry Buford Norton (1888-1973) and Bertha Mae Bendall Norton (1897-1973); his brother, Henry Buford Norton, Jr. (1923-2001)and a sister, Carolyn Norton Respess (1930-2019).
Don is survived by his daughters, Donna Kemp and Cindy Parrish (Tom); a brother, Mervin L. Norton; grandchildren, Jason Parrish (Heather), Dana Parrish McSorley (Alex), Lauren Kemp Willoughby (Brent), and Katie Kemp Buckner; great grandchildren, Claire Ebrahimi, Macy Willoughby, Knox Willoughby, Ragan McSorley, Bella Parrish, Livvy Parrish, Audrey Parrish, and Colt Buckner; several nieces, nephews, other extended family, and many friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Huffman United Methodist Church at 11 AM and a visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
