British Civil Servant. He was considered an influential British Civil Servant, spending most of his career in the treasury but also served as Ministry of Education and assistant private secretary to the Chancellor of the Exchequer. He was Cabinet Secretary under both Prime Ministers Harold Wilson and Ted Heath between 1963 to 1973. On March 7, 1974, he created a life peer of Lord of Trend, of Greenwich in Greater London and rector of Lincoln College Oxford. The Right Honorable Sir Burke Fredrick St. John Trent was the son of Walter Trend, a journalist, and his wife Marian Tyers. He was educated at Oxford and Pro-vice chancellor at Oxford from 1975 to 1983, where he received an honorary Doctorate Degree.
