Actor. He was best known to film viewers as the headwaiter 'Rudolph' in the 1969 film "Hello, Dolly!." Born Heinrich Theodor Hirsch, he left Germany to go to the United Kingdom when he was twelve years old. He got his start in acting at a young age, performing on the theatrical stage in Belfast. He made his film debut in 1949 in the British comedy film "The Perfect Woman." Besides "Hello, Dolly!," he went on to appear in such films as "Kelly's Heroes" (1970) and "The Boys from Brazil" (1978). He also appeared in numerous television series during his career such as "The Defenders," "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," "Mission: Impossible," "Dark Shadows," "McCloud," "Quincy M.E.," and "Charlie's Angels." In the 1980s, he visited Germany and decided to stay in the country. He continued to act in both Berlin and Vienna until retiring in 2000. He passed away after suffering a stroke.
