Obituary:

Obituary The gates of heaven swung open and Mother Bryant departed this life on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at her daughter’s residence in Chattanooga. She was born September 23, 1931 to the late James and Carrie Harris, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Bryant; three sisters; two brothers. Clara accepted Christ at an early age and later united with Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church where she served as President of the Memorial Ministry. She was a member of the Trustee Wives and Widows and the Mother’s Board. She leaves to cherish her precious memories a loving and devoted daughter, Willie Mae Gilliam; a loving and devoted grandson, Corey Gilliam; adopted sons, Bob (Charlotte) Hubert and family and David Essex; stepdaughters, Diann Bryant and Danita (Winfred) Moore, all of Chattanooga; stepson, Edward (Katherine) Bryant, both of Murfreesboro, TN; brother, Charles (Deidra) Harris of Wylie, TX; sisters-in-law, Novella Harris of San Antonio, TX and Carrie Clack Harris of Chattanooga; devoted nieces, Alice Brady and Betty Hawkins, both of Chattanooga; a host of nephews, nieces; cousins; other friends and church family.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 6-7 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Monday, October 7, 2019 at 12 noon at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Carlos D. Williams as the eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
