Mr. Edwards was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was the leader of the pack and loved to be the center of attention with his infectious smile and a laugh you would never forget. Mr. Edwards was a a skilled carpenter and worked hard in construction with his most notable job being the Twin Eagles Bridges over the Illinois River. He was a star high school athlete and also spent a short period of time proudly serving his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and was very proud of his own cooking and especially his famous jellies. He will forever be missed by those that loved and knew him.
Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Edwards; a brother, Donald Edwards; step-daughter, Vickie Holcombe Ruble and one step-grandson, Cory Slone.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 54 years, Evelyn Shaw Edwards; daughter, Cari Jeansone (Jacob) of Tioga; step-son, Leon Holcombe (Sue) of Pleasant Hill, IL; sister, Barbara "Bobbie" Edwards Hinton (Roger) of Natchitoches; brother, Lindy Edwards (Barbara) of Quincy, IL; grandchildren, Mindy Jeansone, Byrce Jeansone, Todd Holcombe (Jennifer), Missy Reed (Sam), and Jeremy Slone; and a host of extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice in his name.
