Mary Ruth Walker, 73, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019 at the Norton Inpatient Care Unit in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on April 9, 1946 in Lexington, Indiana, the daughter of the late Billie Robbins and Melva Dean (Ellis) Robbins.
Ruth was a retired employee of the old U.S. Shoe Corporation in Crothersville, Indiana and also a former cashier at the Scottsburg Walmart, where she worked for 10 years. She was a member of the Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching and knitting. She also loved to read.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by two brothers, Buck and James Harvey Robbins and two sisters, Jackie Jenkins and Frances Babbs.
Survivors include her son, Terry Lee Walker and his wife Joyce of Scottsburg, Indiana; her daughter, Teresa Poynter and her husband Tim of Bedford, Kentucky; a sister, Lillie Mae Thomas-Cloud and her husband Ralph of Lexington, Indiana; five grandchildren, Brittany(Keith), Jessica(Nick), Tera, Cody and Harley and four great grandchildren, Logan, Asher, Rhett and Grace.
Funeral Service: 7:00 pm on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Thomas officiating. Visitation: 4 to 7 pm Friday at Collins Funeral Home. Cremation is requested following Ruth's service with burial at a later date in Scottsburg Cemetery.
