Kim's parents were James A. (Jim) & Marjorie F. (Marge) (Pattenden) Schasre. She was a 1967 graduate of Lewis & Clark High School in Spokane. Kim married Marshall Turner in 1989. They met while both worked for Murphey Favre in Spokane. Kim started her career at Piper Jaffray, then was a trusted financial adviser at Murphey Favre. Later, she and Marshall worked at AG Edwards in Spokane. Kim had a good sense of humor. I recall once in her office at AG Edwards I asked her if she'd heard what Nelson Mandela said after his first meeting with Pres. George W. Bush. She hadn't, so I told her that Mandela told the reporters after the meeting that Pres. Bush's "brain doesn't work very well." She had a good laugh about that.

When Kim's mother, Marge, passed away, Kim inherited her dog. I remember her remarking that the dog was all she had left of her mother. Kim retired from AG Edwards in 2005 after having survived breast cancer in 2003-2004. In addition to their human family, Kim and Marshall were devoted dog parents to a pair of miniature schnauzers. Kim enjoyed traveling and dancing, among other activities. She danced for many years with the "Tap Grandmas" and "The Spring Chicks Cloggers," performing at local schools, nursing homes, and other events.
