Gary Wayne Hammond, age 48 of Douglasville, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019. He was born on January 13, 1971 in Decatur, Georgia, son of Danny Wayne Hammond and Beverly Diane Deerman Petty. Gary was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, loved to travel, riding motorcycles, NASCAR and fishing. He loved coaching his kids in ball and doing things with them. He was a plumber for Sluss+Padgett in Norcross and attended Crossroads Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shannon Lockhart Hammond; children, Cameron Hammond, Colten Hammond, Chloe Hammond, Victoria Moon, William Moon and Shelby Moon; father and step-mother, Danny and Debbie Hammond; mother and step-father, Diane and Dean Petty; step-sisters, Chelsea Hammond and Lindsey Hammond; grandmother, Nancy Slaten; step-grandmother, Ann Deerman; mother-in-law, Charlotte Lockhart; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chris and Sonya Lockhart; aunt, Debbie Bennett and husband Larry; and nephew Marcus Bennett.
Per his family’s wishes, he was cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Chris Lockhart and Reverend Phillip Morris officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM before the service.
Hightower’s Memorial Chapel, Douglasville, is in charge of the arrangements.
