Joanne Cox Key. 84, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda K. (William) Johnson. Arrangements are pending at Walden Funeral Home Perryville.
Joanne Cox Key, 84, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019. She was born in Castlewood, Virginia on May 19, 1935, a daughter of the late Kyle Ernest and Charlotte Edith Porter Cox and was the widow of the late Marion W. Key.Joanne was very involved in and devoted to Lexington Avenue Baptist Church, she was a part of the Ruth Sunday School Class and continually displayed a Christ-like spirit; always smiling and encouraging others. Her faith was very strong and she instilled that in her daughters who came to know Christ at an early age. She worked at the former Top Value stamp redemption store and was very active in the Ephraim McDowell Hospital Auxiliary. She also enjoyed bowling and playing bunk-o and gardening.Survivors include her daughter, Brenda K. (William) Johnson, three grandchildren, Haynes (Gail) Johnson, Bart (Liz) Johnson, Landon (Brandy) Berry, and four great-grandchildren, Colin, Madison, Wyatt, and Sophie Anne JohnsonIn addition to her parents and husband, Joanne was preceded in death by a daughter Beverly K. Berry who passed away in July 2019.The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 27, 2019 at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church in Danville with Phil Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery in Washington County. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service.Pallbearers will be Haynes and Bart Johnson, Landon Berry, Darrell Terry, Gordon Patterson, and Mickey Brackett.Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of LABC Ruth Sunday School Class.Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are suggested to Ruth Sunday School Class or Heritage Hospice.Services are under the direction of Walden Funeral Home Perryville.
