Glenn W. Burch, Horse Fancier, Dies at Age of 65
Glenn W. Burch, 65, of 417 Falconer Street, well-known sportsman, whose horses have been major performers at area racetracks, died at 6:05 P.M., Sunday in W.C.A. Hospital.
He was born March 30, 1891 in Frewsburg, the son of Arward and Alice Casort Burch.
Mr. Burch was a lover of horses, and he and the late E. R. Ganey owned several outstanding pacers and trotters, usually pooling their transportation facilities for trips to major tracks. Burch horses ran at Batavia Downs and Buffalo Raceway for years. He also entered in competition his stable of horses in the East and South. He was a resident of Frewsburg during his boyhood driving days.
He was a member of Mt. Moriah Lodge, F. & A.M.; Jamestown Consistory, A.A.S.R.; Ismailia Temple, Buffalo Shriners; the Jamestown Shrine Club; the Kendall Club; Jamestown Lodge of Elks and a member of the United States Trotting Association.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pearl Burch; a son, Sherwood A. Burch, Jamestown; a daughter, Mrs. Huston Stone, Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Ralph Burch; three sisters, Mrs. Jeannette Swanson, Jamestown, Mrs. William Mae, and Mrs. Stanley Sundquist, Lancaster, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday from Henderson-Lincoln Chapel, with Rev. Dr. Roy W. Weakland. chaplain of Mt. Moriah Lodge, officiating. Burial will be in Bemus Point.
