Mrs. Jane Nelson Thomas age 71 of Pensacola, Florida passed away quietly Monday, September 23, 2019 at her residence. Jane was born August 2, 1948 the youngest of a set of beautiful twin girls in Pensacola, FL to the late Edwin Delworth and Sue Ella Gates Nelson. She had been a resident of Pascagoula, MS since 2017, after having been a lifelong resident of Pensacola, Florida . She enjoyed reading, crafting, a good cup of coffee, and conversation. She never met a stranger Her passion was spending time with family especially her grandchildren. However her first and deepest love was Jesus. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Pascagoula and will be missed by all who knew her
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson Timothy Jeremiah “Jeremy” Kirby.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons James Robert “JJ’ Kirby of Port St. Lucie, FL, Rev. Edwin Close Kirby and his wife Rev. Martha June “MJ” of Ocean Springs, MS; one daughter Jeannie Miller Smith and her husband Adam of Wake Forest, NC; one brother Edwin Delworth Nelson Jr.; two sisters her twin, Jean Nelson Tarnok and her husband Tony of Pensacola, FL, Betty Andrea Campbell and her husband Michael of Annapolis, MD; seven grandchildren Eddie Jr., Mosie, Chloe, Nathan, Duke, Natalie and Noel; and a host of other family and friends.
A Funeral service will be held Friday, September 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church of Pascagoula with Reverend Larry Hilliard officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park in Pensacola, FL. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. Those unable to attend may send condolences to the family at www.obryantokeefe.com.
