After retirement, he continued to work at Grumman as a job-shopper, volunteer, photographer and historian at the Northrop Grumman history center, Republic Airport, the Smithsonian, the Long Island Republic Historical Society and the Cradle of Aviation Museum. He participated in the Charles Lindberg flight reenactment several years ago at the Cradle of Aviation Museum and was also active in the Long Island Scale Model Society.
Over the years, he also enjoyed bowling, fishing, model building and raising flowers including gladiolus, azaleas, roses and African violets.
