Mr. Gregory William “Greg” Burns of Fulshear, Texas, formerly of Daleville, Alabama, age 47, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Thursday morning, August 15, 2019, after a long illness.

Greg was a loving husband, father, son and brother, and a friend to many.

Greg was born April 6, 1972 in Enterprise, Alabama to William D. and Carol M. Burns. He was a 1990 graduate of Daleville High School, Daleville, Alabama. After high school, Greg attended the University of Alabama where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. Later, he received a MBA in Business Administration from RSM Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Netherlands. At the time of his death, Greg was serving as Vice-President of Human Resources with Premier Oilfield Group, Houston, Texas. Greg’s professional career was spent working in the oil and gas industry, which took him to many different places, including Canada, Italy, and Kazakhstan.

Greg was a member of Second Baptist Church, Katy, Texas. He was an avid fan of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide (Roll Tide!).

He is survived by his loving wife, Yolinda I. Burns of Fulshear, Texas; two sons, Ayden G. Burns and Jared S. Burns of Katy, Texas; his mother, Carol M. Burns of Geneva, Alabama; one sister, Cindi M. (Brett) Westcott, of Wasilla, Alaska; one nephew, Coultin M. Westcott of Wasilla, Alaska; and one niece, Britainy M. Westcott of Anchorage, Alaska; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, William D. Burns, of Geneva, Alabama; his maternal grandparents, Barney L. and Gladys B. Martin; and his paternal grandparents, Paul L. and Regna M. Burns, all of Coffee Springs, Alabama.

Schmidt Funeral Home had charge of local arrangements. Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home, Geneva, Alabama had charge of burial arrangements.
