Jesse Henry Martin, 86, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019 at his home.

He was born December 9, 1932 in Tipton, MO, a son of Jesse Owen and Corinne Marie (Schmidt) Martin. On November 29, 1952 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sedalia, he married Lillian Virginia Fairfax who survives of the home.

Jess was graduate of Sacred Heart School Class of 1951. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sedalia. Jess honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Missouri-Pacific Railroad as a mill man and owned and operated his own farm. Jess enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and working on any projects he could find on the farm.

Survivors include his wife Virginia of 66 years, one son, John Martin (Ann) of Sedalia, MO; one daughter, Sue Martin of Ogden, UT; seven grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to both of his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Patricia Sudduth, Betty Lyle, Gladys Voss and one brother, Dorsey Martin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with burial to follow at Highland Sacred Gardens. Full military honors will be provided by the VFW Post 2591 and the United States Army.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2019 at the Heckart Funeral Home with a Rosary Service starting at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Sacred Heart School.
