Dell Stewart Nichols,78, passed away 6 Jul 2005 at the Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful. He was born 11 May 1927 in Brigham City a son of George Washington, Jr. and Minnie Jeanette Yearsley Nichols.

He attended Box Elder Count Schools and graduated from Box Elder High School where he was an all around athlete. He excelled in baseball and track and was All-State in football and basketball.

During WWII he served in the U.S. Navy and played on his bases basketball team. He also played varsity basketball for Utah State University. After graduating from USU, he worked as an Elementary School Principal, High School Assistant Principal and a P.E. teacher. He coached 8th grad basketball for 25 years and won 75% of his games. He taught over 7000 students during his career. Dell received the Brigham City Citizen of the Year award sponsored by the Order of E.L.K.S. in 1975 and 1980.

On 20 May1952 he married a beautiful young woman by the name of Shelley Robinette. Together they raised four children. They enjoyed 53 years together.

For 50 years Dell was a professional house painter in the Brigham City area. He used this profession as an opportunity to provide employment for his sons.
