Please note I believe vandals have been in the back portion of this cemetery and have moved headstones all around. For example, Mr. Frederick Davis Wimberly's stone is now on its side and up against Ms. Harriet Maria Bunn Wimberly Tarver's. Other's are broken and others are upside down. My heart goes out to the loved ones who are related to these people! I photographed these graves hoping someone in charge of the cemetery will do something about the vandalism!

Captain Wimberly was born in Houston County, GA, the son of Frederick Davis Wimberly of NC, Revolutionary War soldier.
When Frederick was 4 years of age, he moved with his parents to Twiggs County, Ga.
He graduated from Mercer University.
In 1860 he married Isolene Minter who was from a line of prosperous and educated people.
Frederick responded to the first call for troops in South Carolina at the beginning of the Civil War and entered service as Second Lt. under General Tarver's command. He served through the entire Civil War. He was promoted to Captain after The Battle of Sharpsburg, for gallantry on the field.
Six children were born to Frederick and Isoline. Their children were also prosperous and held in high esteem by those who knew them.

Captain Wimberly was active in the politics of Georgia and much can be found on him by doing a search on the internet.
