Michael Holmes passed away on Friday, September 13, 2019 at his home on Arrowwood Lane in Oak Ridge, TN.

Mike was born and raised in California and lived in Memphis for a time but has lived in Oak Ridge for the last 13 years.

He worked as a truck driver for Roadway and more recently with Roger Daniels trucking out of Oak Ridge and Santek in Kingston. Co-workers lovingly referred to him as Dr. Bob.

Mike is survived by his wife Darlene; his children Luke Parnell, ReAnna Cook, and Danyell Freels; his mother Beverly Ann Smith Bennett; sister Dana Guastini; brothers Steven Holmes and Charlie Jim Stratton; grandchildren Trenton Casey, Devin Kee, Sierra Kee, Tavion Cobb, and Titus Stewart; along with many, many friends.

Mike lived life to the fullest. He’s been affectionately known as Big Mike, not because of his physical size but because of who he was. Mike never met a stranger and would help anyone with anything. He had a big personality and a big heart. He may not have been politically correct but he had a good heart and a was good man. Above all else, he was a man of his word.

His family was his world and he was theirs. Mike has been a source of strength and hope for many and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 5 – 7 pm at Weatherford Mortuary.

A memorial service will follow at 7 pm. The family asks that any memorials be made to Second Harvest, 136 Harvest Lane, Maryville, TN 37801.
