SHIRLEY IRENE SACCHI Shirley Irene Sacchi, a long-time resident of Arcata, California, passed away peacefully on May 20th, 2017, at the age of 90 in McKinleyville, California. Shirley was born in Concord, California, to James and Birdie Setchell on October 4, 1926. Shirley was a graduate of Arcata High School. On January 26, 1945, she married Dudley Sacchi in San Francisco, California. Dudley and Shirley relocated to Arcata where she raised their two children Billy and Linda. Shirley and Dudley purchased Alliance Market and worked together there for many years. Shirley was always busy with her many hobbies including crocheting, knitting, toll painting and working in her flower garden where she found a special interest and love for geraniums. She also delighted in antique bottle hunting with her long- time friend Lorraine Laursen. Shirley loved visiting her parents at their home in Big Lagoon where she enjoyed walking on the beach and agate hunting. After Dudley's retirement, they traveled in their RV often to the Southwest. Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Dudley Sacchi; son William Thomas (Billy) Sacchi; sister Thelma (Bubbles) Sacchi and brother Bill Setchell; grandsons Brian and Tim Smith; brother-in-law Stacey Sacchi, Sr. and nephew Scott Marcum. Shirley is survived by her daughter Linda and husband Colin Livasy; granddaughters Kathryn Sacchi, Tricia and husband Manny Gonzales; great grandchildren Jonathon Ownbey, Jade Smith, Asa Smith, Andrew Gonzales and Ann Marie Gonzales; niece Judy Marcum and daughter Michele and her family, nephew Stacey Sacchi, Jr. and wife Sham, niece Denise Setchell Basques; great nieces and nephews Sheri Jensen, Patrick Sacchi and Daniel Sacchi; sister-in-law Dorothy Sacchi; daughter-in-law Karen Sacchi. A very special thanks to Mary Adams for her friendship and care for Shirley. Shirley will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family will honor Shirley's wishes and so, there will not be a service. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Humboldt or a charity of your choice.
