Helen Joanne Pruitt, born April 21, 1940, went home to be with her Lord and family on Tuesday, January 15, 2019.

Mrs. Pruitt worked for Ramada Inn for 8 years and was a housewife also. She enjoyed going to Fletcher Feed and Seed with her daughter, Susie, on the weekends to listen to Bluegrass and Gospel music. She loved taking pictures and going to her children and grandchildrens ballgames. She loved flowers, especially red roses.

She was a good wife, a very special mother, and a wonderful and loving granny and great granny. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life. Mrs. Pruitt was preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn Preston Garren, Sr. and Mabel McHone Garren; two sisters: Bessie Garren Pruett and Shelia Garren Ledford; a niece, Dottie Garren and her precious son, Norman Normie Pruitt.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Norman Pruitt. Her children: Jack Pruitt (Darcy) of Fairview, Kevin K.P. Pruitt (Rose) of Enka, Susie Pruitt (Bobby) of Oakley, Lisa McKenna (Patrick) of Fletcher, and Brenda Haney (Steve) of Waynesville. Seven wonderful grandchildren: Erin Reece (Brandon), Steven Haney, Jesse Haney (Michelle), Shelby Bakken, Candace Searcy (Kevin), P.J. McKenna, and Kelly McKenna. Eight special great-grandchildren: Karson, Savannah Searcy, John, Steven Haney, Jr., Ethan Haney, Walker Sutton, Makenna Searcy, and Ada Reece. Sister, Cheryl Laws of Myrtle Beach, SC; brothers: Bud Garren (Rose Mary) of Canton, and Gary Garren (Linda) of Asheville; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, January 19, 2019, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Pastor Tom Pierce and Larry Dotson officiating. Burial will follow at Old Salem Cemetery in Fletcher.
