The death of Mrs. Hartley Whittaker, widow of the late Hartley Whittaker, occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Gardner, Birmingham. Mich., last Thursday. She is survived by two sons, Leslie and Geoffrey, Detroit; three daughters, Mrs Blight (Dorothy) of Jarvis; Mrs. McConkey (Constance) Brantford, and Mrs. Gardner (Phyllis), of Birmingham, Mich.; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral took place from the Becker Funeral Home, New Hamburg, on Monday, with interment in St. James' Cemetery, Huron Road, with Rev. D. D. Jones, rector of St. George's Anglican Church, New Hamburg, officiating. The late Mrs. Whittaker was the former Emma Jane Swire [father was Swire Tatham], and was a native of Keithley [1881 census state Bingley], Yorkshire, England. Her husband, who predeceased her 17 years ago, lived for some time with the late Wm. Illingworth family in Wilmot township.
