A native of Haywood County, JC was the son of the late Sam and Margaret Rathbone Ledford. In addition to his parents, JC was preceded in death by a son, John D. Ledford; four sisters; six brothers; and his loving wife, Bonnie Davis Ledford, whom passed away earlier this year, after sharing 65 loving years together. JC and Bonnie were members of Calvary Road Baptist Church in Maggie Valley for 20 years, where they enjoyed singing in the choir. JC served as a Sergeant First Class in the United States Army, receiving the Purple Heart for his service in the Korean War. After his service he was a dedicated employee at Dayco Corporation, retiring after 37 years of service. JC enjoyed traveling, watching sports, coaching, and farming.
Mr. Ledford is survived by two daughters, Kathy Phillips, and her husband, Steve, and Sharon Ledford; and a son, Steve Ledford, and his wife, Lisa; one sister, Lucy James; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2019, at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend John H. Swanger, III, Reverend Bobby Rogers, and Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Calvary Road Baptist Church, 2701 Soco Road, Maggie Valley, NC 28751.
