John T. Gall, age 95, of Yankton, South Dakota died Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Avera Majestic Bluffs Hospice House in Yankton.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota with Reverend Dani Jo Bierwagen officiating. Burial will be in the Yankton City Cemetery in Yankton, South Dakota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jake Brandt, Jeremy Brandt, Cameron Brandt, Tristen Brinkman, Shawn Brandt, and Chris Brandt. Honorary pallbearers will be his great granddaughters: Nicole Brandt, Jenna Brandt and Briana Brandt.

John T. Gall was born December 27, 1923, in Burlington, Iowa to John M. and Alvina (Buchholz) Gall. He married Audrey Mortenson on March 30, 1943 in Vancouver, Washington. They worked on fruit and vegetable farms in Washington and California, and later worked at shipyards. Their daughter Joyce was born in Venice, California. They moved to Yankton, South Dakota in 1945. While in Yankton, John built six different homes, bought land and farmed. He raised cows, sheep, chickens and geese. He also trucked, hauled watermelons from Texas and apples from Michigan.

He loved gardening and selling his produce; tomatoes, cantaloupes and watermelons by the pickup load. As he got older he sold them in front of his house and on Broadway in Yankton. When he wasn’t working he loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter, Joyce Brandt of Yankton; three grandchildren: Jack (Laura) Brandt, Brenda Brandt (Ted Wubben), and Joe (Arlene) Brandt; 10 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Gall and Martin Gall.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Audrey on March 10, 2012; son-in-law, Gerald Brandt, three sisters: Lorraine Tullier, MaryAnn Walker and Pauline Lee.
