Mr. Michael Lawrence, 67 of Perkinston, stepped into eternity Saturday morning at his home, surrounded by his family. Mike was born November 4, 1951 in Wiggins, the baby of six children to Clemmie E. & Loyette (McMurphy) Lawrence. Growing up in the 50s & 60s, Mike loved to hunt, fish, and grow a garden big enough to share with friends and neighbors. Many remember his dad's ornamental concrete shop on Hwy. 26, where Mike worked for a few years. He also worked at Entrekin's Garage in town, where he learned to be a mechanic, and also at Watt's gas station on Magnolia drive, all of which were successful businesses in Wiggins for many years. Mike also worked at Paceco on the seaway for many years as well. He loved old, classic cars and tinkering with them. He is remembered as the kind of guy that would help you any way he could. A loving, protective and devoted husband to Ranae of almost 43 years, his children say "you couldn't ask for a better dad". Mike will be fondly remembered, and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded by his parents, Clemmie & Loyette Lawrence. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife, Ranae; their children, daughters Sabrina (Stevie) Lee and Crystal Lawrence, and their son, Brandon Lawrence; five grandchildren - Blake & Olivia Lee, Ashlyn & Caden Holley; and Brandon Lawrence, Jr; two sisters, Carol (Olan) Fore and Elaine Moore, and brothers Ronnie (Julia), Kenneth (Ann), and Mitchell (Mary) Lawrence, along with several nieces, nephews, and countless friends and neighbors over the years. The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 PM at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry, and Wednesday morning from 9:00 until 10:00 AM at Unity Baptist Church in McHenry. The funeral service is set for 10, and Mike will be laid to rest at Wiggins City Cemetery afterward. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Lawrence family in their time of need. Please keep Ranae and all the family in your thoughts and prayers over this difficult time.
