George's wish was to be buried at the location of his last military assignment, Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. He was interred on Wednesday October 2, 2019. Services were conducted by Funeral Caring USA, at the Alamo City Church with a visitation beginning at 11:00 hours. That was followed at 11:30 hours by a memorial service, officiated by Rev. Hyeok Bea. A number of close friends spoke of their memories of George and their friendship. All agreed that he had a deep and abiding love of God, his family, and his country, in that order. As his wife is of Korean decent, the sermon and prayers were given in both English and Korean.

Memorial services at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery began at 13:45 hours, with full military honors. The folding of the flag and presentation to his wife was followed by a 21-gun salute and the playing of taps. After a brief religious reading, a commemoration by his Fellow brothers of Masonic Lodge # 8 concluded the services, at which time a plague and proclamation from President Donald Trump was presented to the family. The Texas flag at the State Capitol in Austin flew at half-staff all day, and will be presented to the family.
