He worked for Delco Remy Division of General Motors and retired after 34 1/2 years of service.
He was an avid sports fan, loved to travel the country with his wife, but most importantly he loved to spend time with his family, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Helen J. (Toye) Greer; son, Jerry L. (Monica) Greer, Jr.; stepdaughters, Cindy J. (Randall G.) Smith, Teresa A. Alt, and Laurie (Jeffrey S.) Pherson; grandchildren, Jeremy (Megan) Greer, Brennan (Paisley Morton) Greer, Haleigh Greer, Ryan (Katie) Smith, Kyle (Amanda) Smith, Hillery (Brian Smith) Holt, Scott (Lauren) Pherson, Brandon (Melissa) Pherson, and Adam (Mary Burton) Pherson; and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Jim (Karla) Greer and Joe (Sandy) Greer, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John W. Greer; and mother, June Hibbard.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all the staff, nurses, and doctors of Miller's Merry Manor in Chesterfield for all their love and care of Jerry.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Services will follow visitation at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park.
