Fay Dean Holland Bell, 82 of Huddleston passed from death into everlasting life on April 3, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born on May 27, 1936 in Lynchburg, the daughter of the late Wesley and Thelma Holland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Ray "Bud" Bell, a son, Rusty Bell, a grandson, Jacob Anderson and a granddaughter, Grace Ann. Fay was a member of Staunton Baptist Church in Huddleston, VA, where she played the piano and taught Sunday school. She was a hairdresser until she worked alongside her husband as an owner of the Sportsmen's Inn Restaurant on Smith Mountain Lake in 1976 until they retired in 1998. Fay touched many lives with her infectious laugh, caring heart, wonderful sense of humor and warm personality. She loved being outdoors by the lake or the pool, enjoying outings with her friends and family, and serving others by cooking her famous homemade rolls and cinnamon hard candy. Her favorite thing was being surrounded by her huge family.

The family would like to thank the wonderful, caring nurses, Tammy Morrell and aide Laverne (hospice) for their quality care and compassion. Also, they are thankful for the love and support of her sister, Holly Sue Templeton and niece, Sara Franklin and great nephew, Wesley Templeton for going above and beyond in all they did for her.

Surviving are three sons, J.R. Bell and wife, Julie, Rickey Owen Bell and wife, Wendi, Cliff Bell and wife, Michelle and her daughter, Hannah Lynn Jenks and husband, Tim; thirteen amazing grandchildren and sixteen precious great-grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as "Mammie".

The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Staunton Baptist Church and a memorial service will follow at 12 noon with Mr. Grady Ayers officiating. The church is located at 15267 Smith Mtn. Lake Parkway, Huddleston, VA 24104 on the right just past the entrance to Smith Mtn. Lake State Park. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Huddleston. God is good.
