Del was born at the post hospital on Fort Warren (currently F.E. Warren AFB) Wyoming. He grew up in the Westwood area of Denver Colorado. He graduated from Denver West High School in 1952 and joined the Colorado Army National Guard that same year.
He held a number of odd jobs including motorcycle mechanic and roofer. Del was roofing houses when he met his wife Patsy in 1956. They married in August of 1957. Patsy was a single mom so Del found himself an instant father to a 3-year old son. The roofing business didn’t provide a very steady income so Del applied and was accepted into the active National Guard which became his career until 1979. Del retired as a Master Sargent. After he retired from the Guard he continued working as car salesman selling BMW’s for Ralph Schomp Motors until 1983 when he entered full retirement. Del spent his retirement with Patsy, caring for their cats, feeding the squirrels and mice that lived in his back yard, providing cookies to the neighborhood dogs and enjoying life. After Patsy’s passing in 2015 he spent the next four years with his new cat Emma and spending time with his son Rick. Del passed at his home, losing his battle with cancer.

Del is survived by his son Rick and daughter-in-law Linda; granddaughters Jessica (Tyson) Kiser and Cassie (Nick) Abseck; great-grandsons Mason Abseck and Liam Kiser.
