Private family burial will be held at Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Genesis Hospice. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Phyllis was born on May 1, 1932 in Missouri, the daughter of Theodore and Madeline (Parsons) Houston. On December 8, 1956, she married Richard D. Long in Rock Island, Illinois. Phyllis worked as a floral designer at K’nees Florist for many years.
Those left to honor her memory are her daughters, Brenda (Richard) Kapral of Deerfield, Wisconsin, Dana (Charles) Knapp of Inola, Oklahoma; son, Darren Long of Bettendorf; sisters, Sandra Price of Rock Island, Sharon (Kurtis) Kelley of Silvis, Illinois; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband.
