Sports Journalist. Eminent cricket writer, known for portraits of Lancashire heroes to Ted Wainwright at Shrewsbury School. He served as cricket correspondent and music critic of the Manchester Guardian and Sunday Times. He was awarded a CBE in 1964 and knighted in 1967. On July 3, 1987 John Arlott officially opened the Sir Neville Cardus Press Gallery at the Old Trafford cricket ground.
