William McMahon, of Peckham, Oklahoma, was here several days last week making arrangements for the funeral service and burial of his father-in-law, J.H. Echternach, which took place here last Saturday, at the Geuda Springs cemetery. Rev. G.B. Williams and wife conducted the ceremonial rites. Mr. Echternach was an early day settler, having come to Kansas in 1876, taking as a claim the farm on which Mr. Merriam now lives. The body was shipped to this place from Cherryvale, Kansas. His wife preceded him to her reward several years ago. Many old friends at this place attended the funeral. Two daughters and two grandchildren were present.
