SPARKMAN — Iva Mae Porterfield Launius, 87, of Sparkman died Wednesday at Arkadelphia. She was born July 12, 1918, in Rolla, Ark. Her parents were Milton "Doc" and Katie Porterfield; and a stepmother, Gracie Porterfield. She was a loving homemaker and a faithful Christian, and was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church near Sparkman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Edwin Launius; a daughter, Pat Stringfellow; five brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include three sons, Thomas Launius and wife, Delores of Fouke, Ark., Larry Launius and wife, Pat of Doddridge, Ark., and Bobby Launius and wife, Stephanie of Camden; two daughters, Betty Wilkins and husband, Mike of Sparkman, and Kate Carter and husband, Buddy of Monticello; one son-in-law, Bill Stringfellow; two brothers, Charles and Loy Porterfield of Malvern; two sisters, Ann Johnson of Arkadelphia and Ruth Newton of Malvern; 44 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren ; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, 2 p.m. at the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel in Arkadelphia. Visitation was Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Jeremy Horton and pallbearers will be her grandsons. Burial will be in the Sparkman Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Shady Grove Baptist Church, Sparkman, Ark.
