He attended Alton School District in his early years, but earned his G.E.D from Lewis and Clark Community College in 1996. He would later further his education by attending Sanford Brown College in Collinsville, where he earned a certificate specializing in Networking Technology. James didn’t stop there, he continued onto Southwestern Illinois College where he obtained an Associates Degree in Precision Machining.
James was an exceptional employee who devoted the majority of his work history to Continental Commercial Products, Olin Brass, and Spencer Butchen. James made sure that wherever he worked he made a lasting impression by taking pride in his work, being on time, and treating everyone the way he wanted to be treated.
Anyone who ever crossed paths with James knows he had a heart of gold, the most caring spirit and the kindest words. James was a genuine man full circle. James was simply simple, laid back and down to earth. James was a rare soul that you only come across once in a lifetime.
In addition to loving sports cars and looking classy, James loved to fish and being out in nature. Being out on his boat brought him so much happiness and truly completed him. James and his cousins would go fishing in several different places but his favorite was their annual fishing trip to Kentucky. James loved playing games and attending family gatherings, this is where you could find his laugh and huge smile. There was one more thing that was fulfilling to him, and that was cooking with and for his beloved daughter, Foo Foo. It brought him great joy to spend time with her.
James embraced the role of parenting, and took his responsibility seriously. His little girl Alyse Marie Lovett was gifted to him June 23, 2003, and her father made sure everyone knew his baby girl was the highlight of his life.
James joined The Crossing Church in middle school until his illness prevented him from attending. His church let us know how important James was to them and they were there for him whenever and however they were needed. He had a special relationship with the pastor that helped affirm James belief in God.
