Caroline J. Sapp, 79 of Hannibal, MO passed away at 3:40 AM Friday, September 20, 2019 at her home.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, September 27, 2019 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO. Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate.

Friends and Family are invited to Caroline's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the funeral home.

Caroline was born on September 21, 1939 in Brookfield, MO to A.M. and Berthamae McCormick Howard.

She was married on September 14, 1958 at the Oakwood Christian Church in Hannibal, MO to Bernard Wayne "Jack" Sapp Sr. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2018.

Caroline was also preceded in death by sister, Helen Harrison Robinson; brother, Ron "Mac" Howard and step-sisters, Delia Howard McCormick and Frances Louise Howard.

Survivors include: five children, Teresa Long of Quincy, IL, Jeanne Sapp of Hannibal, MO, Jill Miller of Hannibal, MO, Nita Fouts (Steve) of Apache, OK and Bernard Wayne "Doc" Sapp Jr. (Jennifer) of Hannibal, MO; one brother, Al Howard (Judine) of the state of Florida and seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Caroline was the first female city letter carrier in Hannibal, MO. She went on to retire from the Postal Service. She previously worked at Standard Printing, the Hannibal Clinic, St. Elizabeth's Hospital and the Hannibal Y.M.C.A.

A nationally renowned cross-stitch artist, Caroline created numerous pieces that were displayed throughout her home and the homes of her family and friends. She also completed many pieces of art at other's special request. St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and NFL Football were some of Caroline's favorites to watch on TV. A talented athlete in her own right, as a youngster Caroline was a gifted softball, basketball and volleyball player. She knew the rules backwards and forwards to her sports and this came in very handy later in life when she coached her own children's teams.

A love of music was always present in Caroline's life. She was in the orchestra, choir and band throughout school and later passed these passions on to her family. An avid reader, Caroline read the newspaper daily and enjoyed books ranging from fictional novels to biographies, including her hobbies of cross stitch and hardanger.

Caroline was thought of by her family as the best cook ever. Caroline made the most amazing cheesecake and during the Christmas season delightful tea rings that were enjoyed by her family and friends. Family was always central to Caroline's life, she treasured the moments they shared together.

A Christian by faith, Caroline previously attended the Fifth Street Baptist Church in Hannibal, MO.

Pallbearers will be Wyatt Miller, Ty Long, Jake Mudd, Duane Kolb, Dwight Kolb, Doug Green, Jim Moore and Bernard Wayne Sapp Jr.
