Mr. Cox passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Matthews Memorial Health Care Center in Alexandria, LA.

He was born in Atlanta, GA, the son of the late Hamp and Minnie Baker Cox. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Sara Crosswell Cox; his second wife, Virginia Bankston Cox; and his brother, Baker Cox.

He served his country in Army Air Force during World War II as a glider pilot, glider instructor and also piloted C-17 aircraft. Mr. Cox was a Engineer and Project Manager for Dresser Industries. Following his retirement there, he was an inspector for 28 years with the National Association of Boiler Manufacturers.

A member of the Toone Baptist Church, he also was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of the Cincinnati (OH) Masonic Lodge for 67 years. He lived in Louisiana from 1962 - 1978 and had lived in Hardeman County from 1978 until January, 2019. Mr. Cox loved his farm and his family.

He leaves his daughter, Sara Alford, and husband, Patrick, of Alexandria, LA; his son, William B. Cox, and wife, Mary, of Orange, CA; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
