Verna L. (Allen) Lawrence, 95, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Julian Lawrence. Born in Mount Vernon, NY, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Louise (Richmond) Allen.

Verna worked for Marathon House, and later for JC Penny before retirement. She had a strong work ethic and a zest for travel, reading and crossword puzzles. She was a very intelligent woman, who loved for her family dearly.

Verna is survived by her loving daughter, Jackie Hartung and her husband Robert of Fort Collins, CO and the late Theresa Schertell and Thomas Julian Lawrence; son in law Harold Schertell; cherished grandchildren, Julienne Botelho and her husband Ian, Ricci Sarni, Bill Rounds and his wife Eileen, Christine Moon and her husband Jeff, Michael Schertell and his wife Julie, Sheryl Rocha and her husband Jose, and Kelly Alves; great grandchildren, Courtney, Darren, Taylor, Cameron, Bridget, Jacqueline, Andrew, Michael, Jake, Jenna and Jose; great-great grandchildren, Aleah, Jackson and Mikaela.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Tuesday at 6:00 pm in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston. Burial will be private. VISITING HOURS will precede her service from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Cranston Public Library, Auburn Branch, 396 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, RI 02910.
