Eddie "Robert" Wells, 76, went home to be with his Lord, Friday, January 15, 2010. He was born June 2, 1933 in Wilson County. He was the son of the late, Wiley Emerson and Martha Williford Wells. He was a member of Arlington Baptist Church.
Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved gardening, watching sports and eating chocolate cake.
Robert was preceded in death by one brother, Garland Wells, three sisters, Rachel Wells, Christal Pridgen and Edna Wells.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley Lucas Wells, one son, Duane Wells and wife JoAnne of Rocky Mount, two daughters, Vicky Howell, Beth Walls and husband Paul, all of Rocky mount, brother-in-law, Jack Pridgen, sister-in-law, Geraldine Mangum, eight grandchildren, Richard Collins, Sara Johnston, Scott Powell, Matthew Wells, Dawn Maynard, Jennifer Collins, Justin Walls and Ashley Walls, ten great-grandchildren, Ethan Johnston, Brandon Powell, Jake Johnston, Aidan Johnston, Tye Maynard, Taylor Powell, Jayden Walls, Ben Maynard, Luke Johnston and Emily Wells.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 17, 2010 from 1:30-3:00PM at Arlington Baptist Church. Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 3:00PM with the Dr. Bill Tomlinson officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society at 8300 Health Park, Raleigh, NC 27615.
