She was born April 26, 1914, in Lamar County and had been a longtime resident of Howard County.
She was employed by the Coahoma Independent School District as a cook for 13 years and was a Baptist.
Survivors include six sons, Ronnie Mitchell of Woodson, Donnie Mitchell of McAlister, Okla., Jackie Mitchell of Odessa, Terry Mitchell of New Braunfels, Bobby Williams of Midland and GlennWilliams of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Mary Matthews of Dallas and Judy Mitchell of California; a brother, Joe Benfield of Mesquite; two sisters, Dean Walker of Glen Rose and Gladys Gilbreath of Fort Worth; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
