Barbara Norris was born on June 5th, 1945 in Berlin, Germany. She had training as a nurse in Berlin and worked in that field until she met and married Richard Norris. To this union five children were born. Richard died in 1994. Barbara then met and married J.M. in 1996, and lived in Edgemont, South Dakota until her death on September 17, 2019. Barbara was surrounded by her daughters at the hospice house in Rapid City after a long battle with her health. She is survived by her husband, 5 biological children, 2 adopted children, 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Barbara was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as part of the Hot Springs Branch. During her membership of the Hot Springs Branch, Barbara gave of herself by being engaged in teaching relief society, hosting dinners for missionaries. Additionally, when her physical health failed, she continued to contribute by knitting various objects to assist others. She remained engaged in the church until her death.

Funeral services will be held at the Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home in Rapid City, South Dakota on September 21, 2019 at 4:00 PM. Barbara will be laid to rest with her first husband, Richard Norris, at the Black Hills National Cemetery for the sacrifices she made as a military spouse and in support of the United States Armed Forces.

Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home with Branch President Keith Glover officiating.
Interment will be at a later date at Black Hills National Cemetery.
