Roy Lee Stephens, 83, of Excelsior Springs, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at home in Excelsior Springs surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be Friday, September 20, 2019, from 5:30 – 7:00pm at Hidden Valley Funeral Homes, Kearney, MO. The funeral will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Hidden Valley Funeral Homes. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Roy was born November 13, 1935, in Kansas City, MO. He is the son of the late John and the late Jesse Ruth (Dovenspike) Stephens. He married Carol Ann Cheney on January 17, 1959 at Ethel, Missouri, to whom he was married for 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann (Chaney) Stephens on April 6, 2009.

Together, Roy and Carol raised four children, Barbara, Teressa, Jimmy, and Diana. They were blessed with 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren all of whom will miss Roy greatly.

He is survived by his son: Jimmy Stephens and his children: Michael D Stephens and his two children, and Christopher Stephens and his one child; daughter: Teressa (Russell) Romazon and her three children: Daphne Skillman and her one child, Joshua Romazon and his two children, and Stphanie Haslett and her two children; daughter Barbara (Robert) Gillespie and her four children: Michael L Stephens and his seven children, Heidi Stephens and her three children, Sarah Gillespie and her one child, and Kayla Gillespie and her one child; and daughter: Diana (George) Clark and her four children: Justin Clark and his two children; Jennifer Whipple and her one child, Jeremy Clark and his three children and Jaylen Clark.
