She was born in Oakman, lived majority of her life in Oakman, graduated Oakman High School, and attended Walker College. Martha worked at Arrow Shirt Factory for 10 years, Manager of Oaks Apartments for more than 20 years. She was a lifelong member of Oakman First Baptist Church. She and Elmer Welch were married for approximately 60 years, they had two children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and they enjoyed traveling. Martha was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to many. She will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adel Worthington and TG Worthington; grandparents, Docia and Sam Davidson, and Billy and Daisy Worthington; in-laws, Dove and Ola Welch; brothers-in-law, Perry D. Welch and Horace Battles; and sister-in-law, Emma Ree Welch Battles.
