RITTMAN -- Clara E. Jenkins, 93, of Rittman, died Friday, April 22, 2016, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born Sept. 30, 1922, in Sterling to the late Elmer and Margaret (Maibach) Bauman and lived most of her life in the Sterling/Rittman area.
Clara graduated from Sterling High School in the class of 1940 and married Donald J. Jenkins on May 30, 1947; he preceded her in death in 1986.
She was employed by the Bodager Agency and later was self-employed, representing Nutrilite, Edith Rehnborg Cosmetics, Amway and Nature’s Sunshine. Clara was dedicated to her customers and worked until the age of 90. She was passionate about helping others and gave her all to her family and her business.
She was a member of the Rittman Apostolic Christian Church and former member of the Rittman Chamber of Commerce.
Surviving are sons, Tom (Deb) Jenkins of Creston and Todd (Sherri) Jenkins of Rittman; daughters, Sue (Dave) Plahuta of Rittman, Sandi Jenkins-Flynn of Wadsworth, Shelly (Gary) Whitt of Sterling and Sharon (Jim) Monahan of Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren, Michelle (David) Dawson of Wadsworth, Michael (Charlotte) Plahuta of Cuyahoga Falls, Meghan Plahuta of Rittman, Mary and Martha Jenkins of Creston, James and Jessica Monahan of Marietta, Ga., Rochelle (Greg) Stalder of Barberton, and Kelsey, Ashley and Abbey Jenkins of Rittman; great-grandchildren, Lexie, Bryce, Karionah, Connor, Eric, Evelyn and Eleanor; several step-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Beery of Rittman and Anna (Orin) Rufener of Rittman; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; sisters, Mabel Bauman, Emily Greenbank, Ella Miller, Velma Rufener and Mary Alice Bauman; and son-in-law, Tom Flynn.
Services will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Rittman Apostolic Christian Church, 10699 Steiner Rd., Rittman, OH 44270 with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow at the Apostolic Cemetery.
